Current through June 1997

I-4-003 STRUCTURE OF THE OFFICE OF CIVIL ACTIONS

OCA is headed by a Director who is also an Administrative Appeals Judge of the Appeals Council with exclusive jurisdiction for litigation. The Director is assisted by a Deputy Director and an Appeals Officer.

OCA has six divisions and a Program Support Staff. Five of the divisions are operating divisions; i.e., they process individual civil actions. The operating divisions are aligned according to judicial circuits, similar to the Appeals Council's alignment. A sixth division, the Division of Litigation Analysis and Implementation (DLAI), is responsible for other litigation-related matters as well as Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act matters. The Program Support Staff includes the Contracts Staff, the Reprographics Staff, the OCA file station and the OCA mailroom.
